When visiting sister Peggy this evening, there were so many things running through my mind. One profound statement she made included asking us all who we are. At first thought, I am this amazing accomplished person but then quickly realized that to define or think of one self in such basic terms did not seem “amazing” enough.
Poverty signifies a deficiency, a reduction or absence of an essential commodity of life. As a society in the United States, I feel as though we are impoverished in so many ways: nutrition, wealth and education. There is a great disparity among the wealthy and poorest of our nation. Through education many are able to create better lives, but in our society, many are starved for education.
